Launcher

The Launcher provides a simplified method of joining a conference (audio only, web only or audio/web). In order to use the launcher for the first time, the system must verify your device and browser to ensure it works with the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Client for Windows. Once it is successfully verified, the client application is launched directly, without requiring any further downloads.

NOTE: The Launcher will be installed as part of the Collaboration Client the first time you join a conference. An MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing shortcut icon to the Launcher will appear on your desktop as well as an icon in your Start menu (Windows version dependent).

Joining a conference for the first time will install the Collaboration Client including the Launcher:

1. Click the link to join your conference (either from an invitation or directly from MiCollab End User Portal page).
2. Click Join to join the conference via the web.
  Click Share to lead the conference from your PC.
  Click Verify Client to download the MCAC-Launcher.exe to install the MiCollab AWV Launcher.
3. Select the acceptance to run MiCollab AWV. The MiCollab AWV Client download starts in the background.
4. You will join the conference once the installation is complete.

NOTES:
- MiCollab AWV Launcher can be installed whether or not your browser supports Java. If Java is not present, the exectuable is renamed: MCAC-Launcher_<server>_<SID>_<UID>_<PID>_<Type>.exe

- If using Java, version 1.8 or higher is recommended for optimal use.

- The browser may also present a dialog asking you to confirm the download of MCAC-Launcher.exe. Some browsers present more than one confirmation window as well as a popup blocker. If prompted, you will need to confirm the download and run the file. Disable Popup if required.

- Windows 8 specific: A dialog box may appear once you select the AWV-launcher file stating that "Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting", click More info and click Run anyway to resume the installation.

- If you encounter an issue upgrading MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing client, select Run as administrator to upgrade the client.

If you are joining a conference on a new server, you will need the server address information so you can go to the MiCollab End User Portal web page.

1. Click MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Public Portal link to access.

1. From the Welcome Page tab, enter the conference number (ID) and click Join.
2. Select the acceptance to run MiCollab AWV. The MiCollab AWV Client download starts in the background.
3. You will join the conference once the installation is complete.
4. NOTES:

The Launcher can be opened by clicking the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing icon (either from your desktop or your Start menu). The default position is top left hand side of your screen.

Main features of the Launcher:

- To Join a conference: Enter an access code or link in the space provided or drag and drop the conference link into the Launcher.

NOTE: The ability to join a conference by dragging and dropping the conference link into the Launcher is not supported in Windows 10.

NOTE: Windows 8.1 users need to enable the drag and drop ability in Windows.
- Navigate to the following registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
- Set key EnableLUA to 0 in hexadecimal.
- Restart your PC.

- To Start an Instant Conference (see Start Conference note below) :
1. 1. Click Start.
  2. Enter Topic and select Conference Type.
  3. Click Start.

- Start Conference: start an Instant Conference (Note: once you have successfully used the Start Conference option to start and join a new conference, you will have a Start button in his MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Launcher window).
- Join a recent conference:
- - Hovering over a recent conference will display that conference information.
  - Selecting a recent will automatically join the conference (see Options/Other below).
  - You may designate a recent conference as a favorite or discard a conference from the list by hovering over the conference and selecting the appropriate icon.
- Rejoin an instant conference:
- - You can rejoin an instant conference in the recent conferences list. Instant conferences are automatically discarded and removed from the list after 2 hours.
- Conference Information: access codes, server address and audio conference instructions.

TIP: Conference Information can also be accessed by hovering over or clicking the information icon

- Local Recording/Playback:
- 1. From the Launcher pull-down menu select Local Recording/Playback,
  2. The MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing client will be launched in local mode and the Recording/Playback window is displayed.

Advanced user functionality (select drop-down menu on Launcher):

- Options / Identity: provides user specific profile identification (specific to each server)
- - Server hostname or IP address:
  - - Select an existing server from the list to modify your credentials or Add Server to add a server that you use to join conferences.
    - Servers are added automatically to this list when conferences are joined.
  - To join a conference I will use my, options are:
  - - Name only: Your Display name will need to be entered (this is the default option)
    - Email and Personal ID: Your Email address and Personal ID will need to be entered.
      Selecting Don't know your ID, an email including your personal ID will be sent to your email address. Once received, enter your personal ID and click Submit.
    - Login ID and Password: My Unified Communications Login ID or Email and Password will need to be entered.
  - Display name: enter the name that other conference participants will see once you join a conference.
  - When I join an Audio and Web conference, options are:
  - - I will call in.
    - Have the system call me: you will need to provide your Phone number.
      A message will be displayed if dial-out is not allowed or a problem is detected by the server.
      This option may incur long distance charges.
    - Start audio through the PC.
  - When I join an Audio-Only conference, options are:
  - - I will call in.
    - Have the system call me: you will need to provide your Phone number.
      A message will be displayed if dial-out is not allowed or a problem is detected by the server.
      This option may incur long distance charges.
- Options / Other:
- - Always show the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Launcher on top of other windows (enabled by default)
  - Join conferences automatically (enabled by default)
  - Number of recent conferences to save (default 10, range of 1-99).
- Help: access this Launcher topic online help.
- About MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing: displays the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Client software version.
- Exit: click to exit the Launcher.

NOTES:
The Launcher can be left open on your desktop.
You can drag and place it anywhere on your desktop or minimize it to your system tray.
The MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing Launcher window width may be adjusted by dragging either the left or right edge in or out. The window can also be maximized to the full screen width by double-clicking the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing icon. Double-clicking again returns the width to the previous value.

The Verify Client option will verify that the application can run on your device with this browser, and test, repair, upgrade or install the application as needed. Verify Client will verify the Launcher but it will not launch the conference.

Once the MiCollab Audio, Web and Video Conferencing client is installed on your PC (for a specific browser being used), a Verify Client option is also available upon clicking a conference invitation link, or directly from the Additional Options link on the Welcome Page (from MiCollab End User Portal link):

A success message will be displayed. Select either Join Conference or Close Window.

NOTE: A security warning may appear, select Don't Block to allow Verify Client to complete.

NOTE: The Launcher can also be used for audio only conferences. Use it to set your preferences, have the system call you automatically or provide conference dial-in instructions. See Using the Launcher.
